Vasopressin
 
[v- ; zu Vas und lateinisch premere, pressum »drücken«, »pressen«] das, -s, antidiuretisches Hormon, Abkürzung ADH, Adiuretin, artspezifisches, antidiuretisch wirkendes, zyklisches Peptidhormon mit neun Aminosäuren. Vasopressin wird im Hypothalamus gebildet und auf dem Weg der Neurosekretion aus der Neurohypophyse (Hirnanhangdrüse), wo es gespeichert wird, freigesetzt. Eine Mehrausschüttung von Vasopressin erfolgt v. a. bei Erhöhung des osmotischen Drucks der Körperflüssigkeiten, z. B. bei Wasserverlust infolge Schweißsekretion. Das Hormon erhöht die Permeabilität des Sammelrohrsystems in der Niere, worauf mehr Wasser rückresorbiert und ein konzentrierterer Urin ausgeschieden wird (Antidiurese). Umgekehrt geht eine Verminderung der Vasopressinsekretion mit einer Wasserdiurese einher. Krankhafter Vasopressinmangel liegt bei Diabetes insipidus vor. Höhere Dosen von Vasopressin führen durch periphere Vasokonstriktion zum Blutdruckanstieg.
